Testing France interfaces

This locale uses fr definitions for names and presentation formats. Test text lengths, input handling, exports and Unicode support. City, region and available postal codes come from the same GeoNames locality. See the generated quality note for postal coverage; street and house number remain synthetic.

COUNTRY-SPECIFIC TEST CASES

Testing France forms

A French form is a useful test of accents, multi-line addresses and postal information that must remain text. Start with one profile, then add a deliberate case that exercises how your application handles names or address qualifiers.

Generator locale: fr. Suggested application display locale: fr-FR. These are separate settings; this guide does not change the generator’s output.

French address lines and CEDEX

The UPU places a five-digit postcode before the locality and distinguishes delivery-point details from the house-number/street line. Its guidance also calls out CEDEX as meaningful delivery information. A form should not silently delete a supplied qualifier. Genory does not claim complete CEDEX or postal-delivery coverage.

Accents and punctuation in names

Use a hand-written fixture such as Élodie or an apostrophe-bearing label to exercise storage and editing. Avoid applying a postal-label formatting rule to a person’s name in your database. Keep an original value when your search or export system also produces a normalized version.

Local display and banking tests

Separate a date-only value from its French-language presentation and check what happens after CSV import. Phone samples are format test inputs, not evidence of a working line. Use the IBAN generator and validator for banking fixtures, and preserve national-check coverage notes rather than assuming every additional check is supported.

A deliberate regression fixture

Editorial regression fixture — not generated output
country: FR
display_name: "Élodie"
address_qualifier: "CEDEX" (preservation test only)
postal_code_input: "01234" (shape-only test)
expected: editing and export retain accents, qualifier and leading zero

These editorial inputs are for controlled tests. They are not verified addresses, guaranteed unassigned contact details, or automatically generated examples.

  1. 01

    Address lines

Round-trip a separate delivery-point field without merging or dropping it.

  2. 02

    Qualifier

Preserve a user-supplied CEDEX label; do not claim the fixture is a real CEDEX address.

  3. 03

    Names

Compare the original accent-bearing value before and after export.
