Random MAC addresses for network test fixtures.
A MAC address identifies an interface at the link layer. Use synthetic EUI-48 samples to test inventory fields, configuration parsers and network diagrams. This generator produces six random bytes, sets the two address flags explicitly and presents the same 48 bits in your chosen format.
- 01
Choose the address flags
Local unicast is the default for test interfaces. Multicast describes a group. Universal-bit format is available for parser tests, but it is not a manufacturer allocation.
- 02
Pick a notation
Choose colon, hyphen, Cisco dot notation or plain hexadecimal to match the format accepted by your application.
- 03
Generate and inspect
Copy an address into the local inspector to see its flags. Check for collisions against your own inventory before using a generated value in a lab.

Before you use the result
Practical answers for your next test.
Are these real MAC addresses?
They have a valid EUI-48 structure. They are synthetic values, not a database of physical devices.
Are the results unique?
Duplicates are removed within a batch. Separate batches and existing networks can contain the same value.
Can I look up a manufacturer?
No. The inspector checks notation and address bits only; it does not query an OUI registry.
Is bulk generation available?
Guests and Free accounts generate one record per request. Pro and Developer use their existing batch allowances and can download JSON or CSV. API access requires Developer.
