Choose an identifier that fits the job.
A UUID gives a record an identifier without asking a central counter for its next number. Use this generator for sample database rows, API fixtures and interface prototypes. Choose the version before generating; formatting options change the representation, not the underlying identifier.

Choose a version
Use v4 when you want random identifiers. Use v7 when time grouping is useful: it includes the generation timestamp in milliseconds.

Save a repeatable fixture
Keep the chosen values in your test fixture. Generating a new value on every run is useful for exploration, but exact-value assertions need a stable input.

Compact: 550e8400e29b41d4a716446655440000Illustrative v4 value, not a fresh generated result. Only use the compact representation if your receiving system accepts it. Parse and normalize before comparing values rather than assuming every textual representation is identical.

Will generating the same configuration reproduce the same UUID?
No. Genory creates new values. Save your result if a test needs the same identifier again.
Does v7 make my database faster?
Time-grouped values can help some index workloads, but storage type, database implementation and query patterns matter. Measure your own workload before choosing a version for performance.
Can I use the generator without an account?
Yes, within the guest allowance. Larger allowances, batches, file downloads and API access depend on your plan. Generated values are not stored; account history records usage metadata.
